Raajessh Iyer

Raajessh Iyer is a classic case of a fish born in water. It has to swim. Similarly being born into a family of musicians and Carnatic classical singers, Raajessh got a tailor made environment and he grabbed it with both hands. He participated in numerous music and sports competition and won a number of inter-school awards. Unlike his family though, Raajessh was more attracted by Hindustani Classical singing. He did have an initial training in Carnatic classical Vocals but the urge of Hindustani Classical ultimately found him learning classical vocals from Pt. Mohan Kashikar from Jaipur Gharana. He also took training for Natya Sangeet, commercial light vocal singing under Pt. Mohan Kashikar.

Raajessh earned a unique distinction during his college days. He was the first student from N.G Acharya & D.K Maratha College to get the Inter College Best Singer Award at the Rungtha Festival. He was also nominated at the Malhaar Festival in the singing category. His passion for music & his zeal to be an established professional singer saw him taking special Urdu training for clarity in pronunciation & diction.

Raajessh is incidentally also a qualified database administrator from NIIT institute. His initial years saw him working in companies like Automotive Manufacturers Pvt Ltd (MARUTI). His unflinching love and passion for music nevertheless saw him doing shows at night and go to work in the morning with ease. His Riyaaz of Hindustani Vocals did him a world of good as time passed by. He started performing with major well known musical groups in Mumbai. Raajessh’s rising popularity and fame prompted Playback singer Vaishali Samant to ask him to perform with them all over in India.

A one year learning of Mridamgam and his knowledge of western rhythmic instruments like Bongo, Congo & Tumba have helped Raajessh to further hone his Rhythm sense and improve his overall singing. He is a totally committed singing professional today doing shows with all leading musical Hindi groups in India & abroad. His career as a singer has seen him perform all over the globe in Europe, Dubai, Bahrain, USA, Canada & Tanzania.

Kishore Kumar, Mohd. Rafi, Yesudas, R.D Burman, Rajesh Roshan & Illaiyraja are few of his favourite singers and music directors.
